Position Summary:
ASG Student Senators shall serve as representatives for their specific constituencies in the Student Senate. Senators shall identify and present concerns, issues, or barriers that Bellevue College students may face to the Senate. Senators shall propose, review, and vote on legislation to express official student opinion on various issues, and make recommendations to other bodies on campus. Senators are required to attend each regularly scheduled Senate meeting during their term. Senators shall fulfill other duties assigned by the ASG Board of Directors or Senate Officers.
POSITION: Associated Student Government Student Senator
DEPARTMENT: Associated Student Government of Bellevue College
SALARY: $18.00/hour (up to 30 hours per quarter)

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be in good standing with Bellevue College and not be on disciplinary probation. Staff will check with the Student Conduct Officer for conduct concerns that may impact travel and participation.
- Must be in good academic standing (not on academic probation) for the quarter prior to selection and during the period of employment.
- Completed a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours of coursework by the time of application.
- Must maintain at least eight (8) credit hours of coursework per quarter throughout the period of employment.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and maintain a minimum quarterly GPA of 2.5 throughout the period of employment.
- Must meet the specific membership requirements for the Senate seat they are interested in applying for, as certified by the Dean of Student Life (or designee).
Essential Functions:
Essential functions shall include but are not limited to:
- Attend all trainings, orientations, and regularly scheduled Senate meetings.
- Develop a working knowledge of, and abide by the ASG Bylaws, ASG Constitution, and the ASG Student Senate Bylaws.
- Identify and present ways to better improve the student experience at Bellevue College.
- Serve as a representative for their specific constituency by regularly interacting with their constituents and bringing any and all concerns from their constituents to the Senate.
- Author and propose legislation to the Senate.
- Review and vote on all legislation which is brought to the floor of the Senate.
- Serve on all assigned committees and task forces.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the ASG Board of Directors or Senate Officers.
