Apply to work in the Associated Student Government (ASGBC) Student Senate, Office of Civic Engagement, or the Office of Events and Community Relations for 2024-2025! 

The Associated Student Government (ASGBC) Board of Directors is currently looking for students to serve in many branches of the ASGBC. These roles include serving on the Student Senate which is responsible for formulating official student opinion on issues affecting the student body; working in the Office of Civic Engagement which oversees and directs legislative advocacy efforts on behalf of all students at Bellevue College; and working in the Office of Events and Community Relations which oversees the direction of all ASGBC events, and is responsible for connecting all students with the ASGBC to ensure every student is being represented. These roles are integral for representing, advocating, and providing services for the student body. 

Student Senators are expected to work up to 50 hours per quarter (about five (5) hours per week), and students working in the Office of Civic Engagement and the Office of Events and Community Relations are expected to work up to 19 hours per week.

ASGBC Student Senator 

Pay: $19 per hour, up to 50 hours per quarter (about five hours per week) 

Position Summary: ASGBC Student Senators serve as representatives for their specific constituencies in the Student Senate. Senators shall identify and present concerns, issues, or barriers that Bellevue College students may face to the Senate. Senators shall propose, review, and vote on legislation to express official student opinion on various issues and make recommendations to other bodies on campus. Senators are required to attend each regularly scheduled Senate meeting during their term and shall fulfill other duties assigned by the ASGBC Board of Directors, or Senate Officers. 

Note: Candidates must belong to the particular group in which they are seeking to represent in the Senate. Examples: A candidate for Athletics Senator must be a student athlete at Bellevue College, a candidate for Housing Senator must live in BC housing, and a candidate for Social Science Senator must be in a pathway, track, or field that falls within the Social Science department. ASGBC Office of Civic Engagement: Policy Coordinator 

Pay: $19 per hour, up to 19 hours per week 

Position Summary: The OCE Policy Coordinator is responsible for researching policies affecting Bellevue College students on the local, state, and federal levels. This work includes assisting the ASGBC Director of Sustainability and Civic Engagement in the development of the legislative agenda, analyzing survey results and other sets of data, overseeing the record keeping practices and the finances of the office, lobbying and building relationships with elected officials and external partners, and fulfilling all other responsibilities as assigned.

ASGBC Office of Civic Engagement: Community Engagement Coordinator 

Pay: $19 per hour, up to 19 hours per week 

Position Summary: The OCE Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the community organizing and engagement efforts of the OCE. This work includes managing the campus organizing efforts, managing volunteers, coordinating voter registration efforts, collaborating with the ASGBC Office of Events and Community Relations when it comes to the planning, and promotion of civic engagement related events, including the annual “Bulldogs at the Capitol” lobby day, and fulfilling all other responsibilities as assigned.

ASGBC Office of Events and Community Relations: Events Coordinator 

Pay: $19 per hour, up to 19 hours per week 

Position Summary: The OECR Events Coordinator is responsible for assisting the ASGBC Director of Events and Programs in the planning, organization, and execution of ASGBC events, and activities, as well as assisting the ASGBC Director of Public Relations, and Community Relations Coordinator in the promotion of ASGBC events, and activities as necessary. This work includes coordinating logistics for events, working with internal and external partners, overseeing the finances and record keeping practices of the office and fulfilling all other responsibilities as assigned.

ASGBC Office of Events and Community Relations: Community Relations Coordinator 

Pay: $19 per hour, up to 19 hours per week 

Position Summary: The OECR Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for assisting the ASGBC Director of Public Relations in the associations outreach, marketing, and publication efforts, as well as assisting the ASGBC Director of Events and Programs in the marketing, planning, and execution of ASGBC events and activities. This work includes creating graphics, conducting outreach activities, managing volunteers, seeking input from the student body, and fulfilling all other responsibilities as assigned. 

ASGBC Office of Events and Community Relations: Community Relations Coordinator Position Description [PDF]

  • Must maintain at least eight (8) credit hours of coursework per quarter throughout the period of employment. 
  • Must have completed a minimum of 12 college-level credits taken at Bellevue College. 
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and maintain a minimum quarterly GPA of 2.5 throughout the period of employment. 
  • Be in good standing with Bellevue College and not on disciplinary probation. 
  • Be in good academic standing, and not be on academic probation.
