Apply for an elected or appointed position in the Associated Student Government for 2022-2023!

The Associated Student Government (ASG) Board of Directors is comprised of nine officers: the ASG President and Vice President are elected and the other seven officers are selected through an appointment process managed by the current ASG. Each position has specific responsibilities outlined in the ASG By-Laws. 

The ASG Board of Directors manages the Services and Activities (S&A fee) process; and works with campus partners in Sustainability and IT on oversight of the Student Environmental Sustainability Fee (SESF), and the Student Technology Fee (STF). The ASG Board provides recognition and funding for student organizations, and serves as a forum for student issues and concerns.

Members of the ASG Board of Directors also have individual projects and serve on campus-wide committees. The purpose of the Associated Student Government of Bellevue College Board of Directors is to act as the voice for students at Bellevue College and ensure student participation in college issues, while being committed to building an inclusive campus community.

Election and Appointment Timeline

April 25, 2022 – Applications Available online

DEADLINE EXTENDED May 10, 2022 @ 12:00 p.m. – Applications Deadline for elected and appointed positions*

May 6, 2022 @ 5:00 p.m. – Candidate pool announced for elected positions

May 9, 2022, TBD- Mandatory candidate orientation sessions.

May 10-June 3, 2022 – Campaigning period, ASG will host events for all candidates, TBD

May 10-June 3, 20222 – Interviews for appointed positions

June 6-8, 2022 – Voting on Canvas

June 10, 2022 – Results Announced

*Appointed position applications will remain open until filled. Interviews for appointed positions will be scheduled on a rolling basis after May 6. The 21-22 ASG Board of Directors conducts all interview for appointed positions.

Elected Positions

ASG President

Weekly Hours: up to 19hrs/week, paid via biweekly stipend

Pay: $20,000

Start Date: August 1

End Date: June 30

Position Summary: The ASG President is responsible for the leadership and guidance of the ASG. The ASG president is responsible for upholding the guidelines set forth in the ASG Constitution, Bylaws, Financial Code and representing the best interests of the Bellevue College student body. This includes working collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, administrators, Board of Trustees, and partners around the state on leadership and advocacy as a student representative of Bellevue College.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and manage the direction of the ASG Board of Directors
  • Uphold the ASG Constitution, ASG Bylaws, ASG Financial Code, Killian Guidelines and applicable College Policies, WACs and RCWs
  • Follow Roberts’ Rules of Order for all meetings
  • Serve on all assigned committees
  • Follow Code of Student Conduct
  • Serve on the S&A Committee
  • Delegate any duties that are deemed necessary to accomplish ASG goals and objectives

ASG Vice President

Weekly Hours: up to 19hrs/week for 48 weeks, paid via biweekly stipend

Pay: $19,000

Start Date: August 1

End Date: June 30

Position Summary: The ASG Vice President is responsible for assisting and/or performing the duties of the ASG President in their absence. They aide the President in ensuring projects are completed and moving forward. The ASG Vice President is responsible for upholding the guidelines as set forth in the ASG Constitution, Bylaws, Financial Code and representing the best interests of the Bellevue College student body. This includes working collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, administrators, Board of Trustees, and partners around the state on leadership and advocacy as a student representative of Bellevue College.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the ASG Constitution, ASG Bylaws, ASG Financial Code, Killian Guidelines and applicable College Policies, WACs and RCWs
  • Follow Roberts’ Rules of Order for all meetings
  • Serve on all assigned committees
  • Follow Code of Student Conduct
  • Fulfill the duties of the ASG President in the event of the absence, resignation, or forfeiture of the ASG President from office

Appointed Positions

ASG Treasurer

Weekly Hours: up to 19hrs/week for 48 weeks, paid via biweekly stipend

Pay: $18,000

Start Date: August 1

End Date: June 30

Position Summary: The ASG Treasurer is responsible for having a working knowledge of all ASG assigned budget accounts and handling procedures. This is accomplished by meeting with groups to discuss funding options, helping students fill out the funding request forms, and ensuring the student government operates from a transparent financial position throughout the academic year. The ASG Treasurer serves a critical role in the annual Services and Activities Fees allocation process.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the ASG Constitution, ASG Bylaws, ASG Financial Code, Killian Guidelines and applicable College Policies, WACs and RCWs
  • Follow Roberts’ Rules of Order for all meetings
  • Serve on all assigned committees
  • Follow Code of Student Conduct
  • Serve on the S&A Committee
  • Shall monitor ASG budget appropriations and expenditures

ASG Emerging Tech Representative

Weekly Hours: up to 19hrs/week for 48 weeks, paid via biweekly stipend

Pay: $14,592

Start Date: August 1

End Date: June 30

Position Summary: The Emerging Technology Representative is responsible for ensuring technological resources are updated and available for BC students’ success. This position co-chairs the Student Technology Fee Committee and is responsible for the ASG web presence.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Expertise in information technology, including but not limited to computer hardware, software, or website design.

ASG Legislative Affairs Representative

Weekly Hours: up to 19hrs/week for 48 weeks, paid via biweekly stipend

Position Summary:

The ASG Legislative Affairs Representative is in charge of revising, submitting and upholding the ASG Constitution, Bylaws, Financial Code, and any additional documents. Maintain order within ASG, enforce state law and college policies to ensure adherence to parliamentary procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the ASG Constitution, ASG Bylaws, ASG Financial Code, Killian Guidelines and applicable College Policies, WACs and RCWs
  • Follow Roberts’ Rules of Order for all meetings
  • Serve on all assigned committees
  • Follow Code of Student Conduct
  • Uphold the ASG Constitution, Bylaws, Financial Code, and any additional documents
  • Provide updates to the ASG Executive Board of Directors, and students at large on pertinent legislative news

ASG Public Relations Representative

Weekly Hours: up to 19hrs/week for 48 weeks, paid via biweekly stipend

Pay: $14,592

Position Summary: The ASG Public Relations officer is responsible for managing and creating content for ASG social media accounts, events, and publications, with the goal of marketing ASG’s work within the BC college community. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the ASG Constitution, ASG Bylaws, ASG Financial Code, Killian Guidelines and applicable College Policies, WACs and RCWs
  • Follow Roberts’ Rules of Order for all meetings
  • Serve on all assigned committees
  • Follow Code of Student Conduct
  • Publish, post, and publicize events and updates from ASG on social media accounts
  • Publicize important information (i.e. suggestions, proposals, objectives, events, updates, and the ASG mission and goals) to the BC student body

ASG Events Representative

Weekly Hours: up to 19hrs/week for 48 weeks, paid via biweekly stipend

Pay: $14,592

Start Date: August 1

End Date: June 30

Position Summary: Responsible for facilitating collaboration and open communication between ASG and BC student clubs/programs. The ASG Event Representative develops and supports the social, educational and cultural enrichment of the student body through campus wide events. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the ASG Constitution, ASG Bylaws, ASG Financial Code, Killian Guidelines and applicable College Policies, WACs and RCWs
  • Follow Roberts’ Rules of Order for all meetings
  • Serve on all assigned committees
  • Follow Student Code of Conduct
  • Encourage student participation, collaboration, and involvement in Bellevue College events
  • Serve as liaison between ASG and BC student organizations
  • Assist clubs in the promotion of student organization meetings and events

Social Responsibility Representative

Weekly Hours: up to 19hrs/week for 48 weeks, paid via biweekly stipend

Pay: $14,592

End Date: June 30

Position Summary: The ASG Social Responsibility Representative is responsible for environmental and social stewardship. Duties include collaborating with the student body, college, and community organizations to implement and facilitate a more sustainable community at BC. Chair of the Student Environmental Sustainability Fee Committee.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the ASG Constitution, ASG Bylaws, ASG Financial Code, Killian Guidelines and applicable College Policies, WACs and RCWs
  • Follow Roberts’ Rules of Order for all meetings
  • Serve on all assigned committees
  • Follow Student Code of Conduct
  • Chair SESF Committee
  • Educate ASG and the student body on sustainable practices/resources at BC
  • Uphold a campus-wide, long-term, sustainability initiative or project and/or take part in current sustainability initiatives on campus

ASG Secretary

Weekly Hours: up to 19hrs/week for 48 weeks, paid via biweekly stipend

Pay: $14,592

Start Date: August 1

End Date: June 30

Position Summary: The ASG Secretary is responsible on working with the ASG executive team in drafting up meeting agenda with meeting links on SharePoint 24 hours prior to meetings, recording minutes, and uploading recorded notes on SharePoint for public record.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the ASG Constitution, ASG Bylaws, ASG Financial Code, Killian Guidelines and applicable College Policies, WACs and RCWs
  • Follow Roberts’ Rules of Order for all meetings
  • Serve on all assigned committees
  • Follow Student Code of Conduct
  • Work with the ASG executive team in drafting up meeting agenda
  • Record the minutes of ASG BOD Meetings, ASG Advising Session, and Student Council
  • Publish minutes on SharePoint and on the ASG website

Qualifications/Eligibility*

At time of application submission, all candidates must be in good standing and remain in good standing with regard to the Code of Student Conduct and:

  • Have a 2.7 cumulative GPA of Bellevue College college-level credits and maintain a 2.5 cumulative and 2.7 quarterly BC college-level GPA throughout the tenure of the position.
  • Must have completed Twelve (12) college-level credits within Bellevue College for an ASG Secretary position, thirty (30) college-level credits within BC for ASG Representative positions and ASG Executive Board of Directors positions.
  • Must not hold another position at Bellevue College at the time of appointment (must relinquish any paid on-campus employment when term begins and may not hold another paid position on campus for the duration of the term) 
  • All positions, except Secretary, are expected to present prior experience in leadership or pedagogy.

*Please note that the ASG Bylaws are currently under revision to remove some outdated and extraneous information. These are the required qualifications for all positions.

Campaigning Rules for Elected Positions – President and Vice President

All candidates for elected positions must attend a mandatory candidate orientation session

Campaign events to showcase candidates and provide a forum for all candidates to meet students will be hosted and scheduled by ASG. All other campaign events must be pre-approved by the Election Committee.

ALL Candidates for Elected and Appointed positions should review the Campaign Rules and other requirements in the ASG Bylaws.
