Learn from this interactive and engaging educational experience the history, purpose, and relevancy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) today.
The presenter, Rasheed Ali Cromwell, Founder and President of the Harbor Institute, is a 4th generation HBCU graduate (for both undergrad and law school). He shares his personal journey, professional successes and empowers students with the insight, understanding and next steps to consider attending these prestigious institutions in the future.
HBCU Presentation #2 – “All We Do is Step, Stroll and Hop? What is a Black Greek?” (In-Person)
Friday, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m.– 12 p.m. in U208/209
African-American Collegiate Greek-Lettered Fraternities and Sororities boast a rich legacy. Unfortunately, undergraduate collegiate members often hold misconceptions and misunderstandings regarding the purpose, mission, and history of their beloved organizations. This is an interactive, innovative, fun, engaging and campus-wide educational session that dispels these stereotypes.
The session also offers practical short-term and long-term solutions for both Divine Nine members and non-members to positively change the expectation and culture related to these organizations. “All We Do is Step, Stroll, and Hop? What is a Black Greek?” showcases the evolution of the organizations via audience participation, music, Black History, African traditions, and pop culture.
