W Building Project Update: Greenhouse and Tree Removal Underway
The W Building renovation continues with demolition activities scheduled throughout spring and summer. Earlier this month, the campus greenhouse was removed, and the north wing of the C Building will be taken down to its structural elements in the coming months.
As part of this phase, a small number of trees within the construction zone will be removed to ensure safe demolition and expansion of the building footprint. While the building and landscape design aims to preserve as many existing trees as possible, those adjacent to the former greenhouse and one tree near the walkway from Lot D1 will be removed.
Removed trees will be repurposed as nurse logs or mulch for garden beds around campus. Once construction is complete, new climate-adapted trees will be planted to restore the landscape and support long-term sustainability.

Bi-monthly construction update meetings are also posted regularly on BC FYI.
