Fernando Moratalla Named Director of Public Safety

We are pleased to announce that Fernando Moratalla has been selected as the new Director of Public Safety and will begin his role on Feb. 1.

Fernando brings more than 14 years of experience in public safety, with leadership roles at Edmonds College and Bellevue College. His background includes managing security operations, developing training programs, and overseeing emergency preparedness initiatives. He is well-versed in access control systems, compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act and Title IX, and has served as a union shop steward. A Marine Corps veteran, Fernando also completed two overseas tours.

Beyond his professional expertise, Fernando is committed to a student-centered approach and fostering a safe and inclusive campus environment. His ability to build strong relationships across departments and with community partners will be invaluable in advancing our mission of campus safety and well-being.
