Bellevue College Music Department Presents Badi Assad in Concert
The Bellevue College Music Department and Guitar Program are excited to welcome acclaimed Brazilian artist Badi Assad to the Carlson Theatre. Known for her “imaginative virtuosity, moving from gauzy delicacy to vigorous propulsion, from dreaming to dancing and back” (The New York Times), Assad blends voice, guitar, and percussion in a genre-defying performance.
Renowned for her innovative “one-woman-band” style, Assad incorporates vocal percussion, body rhythms, and unique sounds into her music. Born in São Paulo, she gained international recognition with albums like Solo and Chameleon, continuing to create even after facing focal dystonia. Her latest works include Around the World (2020), contributions to Arooj Aftab’s GRAMMY-winning Vulture Prince (2021), and her album Ilha (2022).
