Auditions for “Eurydice” by Sarah Ruhl, Directed by Karen Jo Fairbrook
Bellevue College invites you to audition for Eurydice, Sarah Ruhl’s unique take on the Greek myth of Orpheus, retold through Eurydice’s perspective. This production features vibrant characters, a zany Greek chorus, and imaginative twists on a classic story.
Play Summary:
On her wedding day, Eurydice dies too young and journeys to the underworld, reuniting with her father and grappling with memories of her lost love. This heartfelt play combines contemporary elements with timeless themes, offering a fresh look at enduring love.
Rehearsals:
- Dates: Monday–Friday, starting Jan. 6
- Time: 6:30–9:30 p.m.
Note: Not all cast members may need to attend the early rehearsals.
Performance Dates:
- March 12–15, 6:30–10 p.m. at the Carlson Theatre
First Round of Auditions:
- Dates:
- Tuesday, Nov. 26, 3–7:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, Nov. 27, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
- Location: Stop Gap Theatre, Building E, Room 101
Audition Requirements:
- Prepare a 1–2 minute contemporary monologue (serious or comedic).
- If you don’t have a monologue, you can tell a 1–2 minute story.
- Optional: A 30-second classical monologue.
- Be prepared to hum a tune and/or perform simple creative movement.
- Bring a photo and contact information/resume if you have one.
- Complete an audition sheet with your availability and physical details.

- Monday, Dec. 2, Noon–6 p.m.
- Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2:30–7 p.m.
- Details: Callback auditions will include specific scenes/monologues from Eurydice to read with acting partners. Some actors may be asked to hum and/or perform creative movement.
