Nursing instructor April Ambalina will talk about a project that asks students to select a community problem –the opioid crisis, homelessness, sustainable healthcare buildings, etc. – and then create a public service announcement (PSA) to increase awareness and help minimize the problems faced by their communities. Students select their own creative modality for the PSA – such as through cinematic YouTube videos, podcasts, new stories videos, and more.
April will discuss the benefits of this project and share her experience with implementing it in three different nursing courses over the last two years. She will also provide practical tips and strategies for designing and implementing a successful community-engaged project in a course.
