Get ready, Earth Week starts this Monday, April 17!
Here’s the lineup of what’s happening. Don’t forget to sign up as it’s required for some events!
All in-person sessions will have raffles for a chance to win a kombucha kit, sourdough bread tool kit, boba tea making kit, custom earth week travel mugs, stickers, green cleaning kits, and more!
– Donate your e-waste! All week, drop-off in the collection bin in the student union.
– Stop by the C Courtyard and get a free tree and plant seeds to take home.
– Join a virtual talk with Julian Agyeman on just sustainabilities in policy, planning and practice
– Participate in a free yoga class
– Join a virtual talk with Benjamin Lorr about the American supermarket, how our food gets on the shelves, who sets the prices, and who suffers the consequences of our increasing demands for efficiency.
– Learn about the Mexican water crisis and an innovative solution to combat it in a virtual session.
– Join Dr. Jessica Hernandez, the PNW author of “Fresh Banana Leaves” in a hybrid session.
– Participate in an in-person workshop to learn techniques to mend your clothes and keep them out of the landfill (the first 18 participants receive a repair kit).
– Help turn plastic bags into bedrolls for people experiencing homelessness during this in-person workshop.
– Join BC Student Anagha Rao as she discusses the Sustainable Development Goals and how they promote a resilient and just world for all.
