36th Street to support the construction of the third phase of the Mound to Sound Greenway Trail.

The City of Bellevue Transportation Department will implement a directional closure on Southeast 36th Street beginning in early October to support construction of the third phase of the Mound to Sound Greenway Trail system.
The detour is expected to remain in place through the end of 2027.
Detour details
- SE 36th Street will be reduced to one westbound lane between 142nd Street and 150th Avenue Southeast.
- Eastbound traffic will be detoured along the designated route.
- A signed eastbound bicycle detour will begin at 136th Place Southeast.
The lane reduction will allow crews to build retaining walls along the north side of Southeast 36th Street. The walls will support a new 12-foot-wide shared-use pedestrian and bicycle trail.
