Mini-Max Waste Bin Program

Please read this friendly reminder about the Mini-Max waste bin program on campus.

More Information:

The Mini-Max Program is the standard for all interior waste bins on campus. It streamlines and standardizes waste management on campus; reducing landfill waste, making sorting easier, and giving custodians more time to complete tasks that keep our campus clean.

Every person has a deskside Mini-Max bin that includes a recycling bin, a small hanging waste bin, and a small hanging compost bin. You are responsible for maintaining and emptying your deskside Mini-Max bin, and custodians are responsible for the larger, common area tri-stream bins. When your deskside bin is full, please empty it into the larger common area bin. Custodians will only be maintaining and emptying the larger centralized tri-stream bins.

Having staff and faculty maintain their own deskside waste bins increases awareness, ownership, and responsibility for waste creation and proper waste sorting. This effort also drastically reduces single-use plastic on campus and drives the campus towards its carbon neutrality goal of 2050. Many SBCTC schools have also adopted this program, and it continues to be best practice for waste bin programs in higher education.
