Memorial Day Energy Conservation Checklist
Provided by Puget Sound Energy’s Commercial Strategic Energy Management Program
As we prepare for the Memorial Day holiday, please take a few moments to help Bellevue College conserve energy and maintain building safety by following this checklist:
Heating
-
Ensure all vents and registers are unobstructed.
-
If you control your own thermostat, set it to 55 F.
-
Unplug any portable heaters—these pose safety hazards when left unattended.
-
Take home any items that require warmth, as heating capabilities may be impacted during severe weather.
Lighting
-
Turn off all lights in your area, including displays and task lighting.
Building Envelope
-
Close all windows and doors securely.
-
Shut drapes and blinds. For added insulation, tilt blinds so the underside of each blade faces you.
Plug Loads
-
Turn off and/or unplug all nonessential electric devices, such as:
-
Copiers
-
Computers
-
Monitors
-
Printers
-
Scanners
-
TVs
-
Water coolers
-
Your cooperation supports Bellevue College’s energy conservation goals. Thank you!
