Mental Health Advocacy Workshop

Would you like to learn more about how to better show compassion and care to those who may be struggling emotionally? If so, this workshop is for you! Condensed for summer, this workshop meets one day only: July 26th 9-3:30.

Summary: Our students and community are experiencing increased rates of anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns, exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic. This 1-day, 6-hour introductory workshop aims to equip faculty with essential skills and knowledge, including:

  1. Greater awareness of the impact of mental health, recognizing signs and symptoms of emotional distress/crisis or suicidal tendencies.
  2. Increased self-confidence in providing support to someone in emotional distress/crisis.
  3. Understanding of the signs and symptoms of secondary/vicarious trauma.
  4. Skills to set boundaries.
  5. An opportunity to develop a self-care plan of action.
