Students of Color Conference, April 18-20

The 34th Annual Students of Color Conference: Joyful Reunion: Celebrating Ourselves, Transforming Our Communities is April 18-20. This year’s conference will be held at Green River College in Auburn.

Bellevue College students will be joining other college students from across the state at the 34th Annual Students of Color Conference: Joyful Reunion: Celebrating Ourselves, Transforming Our Communities. This year’s conference will be held at Green River College from April 18-20 in Auburn, WA.

This conference is a platform for students of Washington state community and technical colleges to become more active proponents of their own education and life choices. It’s a space to expand opportunities and possibilities for students to become agents of change. The event is sponsored by Washington State Multicultural Services Directors’ Council.

Workshops at the conference are designed around 5 pillars:
1. Identity Development
2. Awareness of Others
3. Skill Development
4. Social Justice/Social Activism
5. Personal Development

Student Eligibility Requirements:
a. Must be current Bellevue College student and registered for Spring 2024 quarter
b. Must be in good academic standing with Bellevue College
c. Must have minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
d. Must be free of student conduct violations
e. Must adhere to guidelines and rules for BC Student Conference traveling participation
f. Must comply with the Students of Color Conference participation guidelines

Students interested in attending must complete the 34th Annual Students of Color Conference Interest form by Wednesday, March 20. Selected participants will be notified by March 22. For questions, contact Darnita Boynton Howard, Umoja Scholars Program Lead.
