Join us as we celebrate the 2023 International Education Week (IEW) from Nov. 13-16, 2023.
An overview of the schedule:
Day 1: Mon, Nov. 13 from around 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. in room C-130 A&B in the cafeteria
• Kick-off parade, introductions, daily food samplings, country showcase and more.
• Requested food drive Items: beans or rice
Day 2: Tue, Nov. 14 from 11:15 a.m. – 2 p.m. in room C-130A&B
• A former BC international student share their experiences and advice via MS Teams, food samplings, country showcase, How to Get a Job in the United Nations, XR lab, and more.
o Beverly Ackah’s presentation about her post-graduation employment via MS Teams.
• Requested food drive items: canned soup or instant cup noodles
Day 3: Wed, Nov. 15 from 11:30am to 2:00pm in room C-130 A&B
• Presentations on “Study Abroad Programs and Scholarships” by Dr. Liu and “Women Empowerment in the DR of the Congo” by Dr. Zihindula, the Fulbright Visiting Scholar, food samplings, & country showcase
• Requested food drive items: pasta or macaroni
Day 4: Th, Nov. 16 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the main cafeteria
• Presentations on “Harvests in Other Countries”, XR lab, and let’s enjoy the traditional Thanksgiving meal together to conclude the IEW. Sign-up link will be shared soon.
• Requested food drive items: canned vegetables or fruits
Notes:
• The event details are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Please remain flexible.
• Flags for the parade correspond to the place of origin of the international students enrolled in Fall ’23.
• Daily food samplings will be given out while supplies last.
• BC students and employees need to reserve a Thanksgiving meal (one/person) when the online sign-up is released this week and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Supplies are limited, so stay tuned.
• The IEW event is co-sponsored by the International Education and Office of Student Engagement departments.
