We will focus on working backwards by starting with a community action and connecting it to outcomes and content. You’ll develop 2-3 potential community or civic actions for your students: really ambitious, doable with some support, and/or totally safe.

Taylor and Sapan will support you in this process so you can come away with a workable class goal for the 2023-2024 school year. This workshop is for all levels of experience with community-engaged or civic education. Just come with a class in mind.

Stipend: $50 | PD Hours: 2

Series Description:
At the RISE Learning Institute, we strive to support more active and out-of-the-box educational practices. We will be holding three course development workshops this quarter during which faculty participants will brainstorm, troubleshoot, and design future community-engaged and civic education course components. The aim is to provide a space for you to access paid, real-time support with thinking through the challenges, logistics, and needs of connecting course content with community partners, activities, or specific social or environmental issues.
