In the Echoes of the Past book club led by Andrii Liutyi and Anna-Andriana Onysko (a special event organized by Reading Lab at ASC), students will embark on a journey through the rich tapestry of Ukrainian classical literature to gain a deeper understanding of the nation’s history, culture, and the context of current events unfolding in Ukraine. Our exploration will take us through a curated selection of masterpieces penned by Ukraine’s most revered authors, providing us with unique insights into the heart of this vibrant nation.
As we delve into the works of literary giants such as Taras Shevchenko, Ivan Kotliarevsky, Vasyl Symonenko and many others, we’ll appreciate the power of storytelling and the timeless themes that connect us all. From epic poems to thought-provoking novels and short stories, students will engage in lively discussions and analyses, fostering an atmosphere of empathy, camaraderie, and intellectual growth.
Through these profound literary encounters, Echoes of the Past aims to empower students to cultivate a comprehensive perspective on Ukraine’s dynamic narrative and its enduring spirit, as well as to inspire a lifelong love for the diverse and captivating world of classical literature.
