Get ready for a great lineup of Earth Week events this Thursday, April 20. All in-person sessions will have raffles for prizes like a kombucha kit, sourdough bread tool kit, boba tea making kit, custom earth week travel mug, stickers, green cleaning kits, and more! Don’t forget to sign up as some space is limited.

Here are the day’s events!
– Electric Vehicle Show – After 3 years, this favorite event is back – stop by the courtyards to get a close up look at Teslas, Volts, custom builds and more. The show courtesy of Seattle Electric Vehicle Association.
– Planning for the Era of Free Electricity – BC’s Ted Spence shares how advances in renewable energy have led to an amazing outcome: increasingly, solar photovoltaic electricity may become virtually free.
– Building Resilience through Clean Energy – Spark Northwest shares how clean energy builds community resilience with hubs across the Pacific Northwest.
– Coming Together for the Climate: An Indigenous Perspective – Pamela Bond SeaMonster will be in the cafeteria, screening her short film ‘Yehow,’ and sharing about her work advocating for indigenous placekeeping and protecting our lands and waters.
– Myths and Misperceptions (Faculty Only) – Join the first of this workshop series with retired BC faculty Kent Short to discuss the common myths and misconceptions surrounding climate change.
– Introduction to Hiking and Backpacking – Join BC’s Wellness Center Director, Peter Prescott for a lecture on outdoor trip planning steps and the required resources for a lifetime of successful adventures.
– Environmental Racism is a Problem. Why Should You Care? – Join BC’s Donna Miguel and Dellyssa Edinboro in a discussion about bringing antiracist practices into sustainability, and finding YOUR “access point” to build connection.
– Film Screening: The Story of Plastic – Join us in the cafeteria for a screening of the Emmy-winning documentary, The Story of Plastic, followed by a panel with Environmental Washington, the Seattle Aquarium, Surfrider, and the Post Landfill Action Network.
– Climate Action Springboard – Learn how you can engage in local work to address the climate crisis! We’ll be joined by leaders from People for Climate Action, Citizens Climate Lobby, and 350 Eastside.
