• Define project management and contrast it with program management
• Identify the relationships between projects, programs and portfolios
• Distinguish between traditional/predictive project and agile/adaptive project delivery frameworks and methodologies
• Explain key project management process groups
• Identify and apply the ten knowledge areas of project management
• Demonstrate an understanding of basic project management terminology and concepts
• Relate the importance of stakeholder management to project success
• Demonstrate the importance of the project initiation process and project charter
• Understand the key elements of a project charter and its relationship as a communications tool
• Understand how to elaborate on the project charter to develop a realistic project management plan, budget and schedule
• Manage project controls to ensure project success
• Relate the project management principles to practical, real-world experiences
• Explain the fundamental concepts and application of Lean-Agile solutions delivery

Debbie Spaulding has more than 20 years of experience managing projects of all types and sizes, in a wide variety of industries as well as in education, non-profit and service organizations. She has been an instructor in Project Management for SPSCC since 2017.
