Join us at 10:20 a.m., on Tuesday, May 17, by the Rainbow Crosswalk outside S Building to celebrate its installation! Free, it’s our chance to celebrate after years of hard work from the LGBTQ+ Task Force, LGBTQ+ Resource Center, and BC community.
More Information:
After a few years of hard work from the BC Foundation and the LGBTQ+ Task Force, and after such gracious support from Governor Locke, the President’s Cabinet, the college Governance system, and donors from across the community, Bellevue College finally has its first (of hopefully three) rainbow crosswalks. If you’ve been on campus and have walked near the U Building, you’ve probably noticed it.
Well, it’s time to dedicate it and celebrate it!
When: Tuesday, May 17, 10:20-10:50 a.m.
Where: Near the crosswalk (just walk up to the U Building, with S and T on either side, and you can’t miss it!)
Who: You! And students! If you’re teaching…try to stop by during the 10:20-10:30 passing period.
What: Speeches from BC students/employees, an old-fashioned ribbon-cutting, and some celebration!
Why: Because this should be celebrated! This is the first official rainbow crosswalk on the Eastside. This is a physical representation of our college’s values and a reminder to do more.
Please try to join us in-person on May 17, the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, to celebrate this newest addition to our college, express support for our LGBTQ+ community, and contribute to the ongoing promise of centering equity in our work.
Reach out to Sapan Parekh or Javier Womeldoff if you have any questions, and let us know if you need accommodations (the space will be mobility-friendly and we will have an ASL interpreter).
Hope to see you then!
