Attend the NCORE Conference (Students Only)

Register to attend the 34th Annual National Conference on Race & Ethnicity in Higher Education (NCORE). The conference takes place May 31–June 4 in Portland Oregon. It will include five days of amazing conference sessions and community building.

The conference takes place May 31–June 4 in Portland Oregon. It will include five days of amazing conference sessions, community building, outreach, and fun.

We offer the chance for six BC students (students who are currently enrolled for Spring Quarter) to attend the conference to share and learn about the issues facing Latinos in the nation and in higher education. Our group will leave May 31 and return on June 4, 2022.

Be prepared to answer the following essay questions:
– Why are you interested in attending the NCORE?
– What involvement in clubs and programs have you had at BC, if any?
– What do you hope to bring back to BC and to the Latino community at BC by attending the conference?
– What issues do Latino students face in higher education?
– What issues do Latino students face in BC?
– Outside of BC, have you engaged in other activities to support the Latino community? Please describe.

Formed in 1961, the Southwest Center of Human Relations Studies is devoted to the study, understanding, and resolution of human conflict and to promoting understanding and cooperation among people of different racial, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds. One of the major programs of the Southwest Center is the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education (NCORE). Held annually, NCORE serves as the leading national forum of its kind and attracts national and international attendees representing more than 1,200 institutions of higher education, non-profits and other educational organizations.
