The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is hiring part-time Scribe/Readers to support disabled students in classroom and test access.
More Information:
Scribe/Readers may work with students in classes and/or during tests. Scribe/Readers are not responsible to know course material but an understanding is required for certain level classes (e.g. math, science, foreign language, etc.). Position hours are flexible, determined by which class(es) or test(s) they sign up for with a maximum of combined 16 hours per week. Work for Spring 2022 will be on-ground.
In Classes: Primary responsibilities are to write general notes and notes as directed by the student, potentially read or share student responses. Scribe/Readers typically assist the course for the entire quarter and assignments are determined based on student needs and Scribe/Reader availability around the start of each quarter. Each class can range from 1 to 3 hours and multiple classes are allowed.
During Tests: Primary responsibilities during tests are to read test content and/or to write student responses exactly as dictated. Scribe/Readers typically assist for an entire test and are determined based on student needs and Scribe/Reader availability. Because tests are set up throughout the quarter, requests for work happen continuously and sometimes with only 1 day’s notice. Shifts range from 1 to 6 hours and multiple tests are allowed.
