Final Call for Black History Month (BHM) Passport Challenge Entries

All entries for the BHM Passport Challenge are due by Noon on Monday, Mar. 7. All entries will be entered to win fun prizes.

More Information:

The 2022 Black History Month (BHM) has come to a close.

During the month of February, the Black Employees of Bellevue College (BEOBC) and Black Student Union (BSU) planned lots of wonderful events starting from the opening event held on Feb1 1. We were so happy to see many of you attending student and staff-led events in honor of it!

As a part of that engagement, the interactive piece built-in for all BC community members to participate in was called the BHM Passport Challenge, a fun activity where “Challengers” can track points for prizes. Points could be earned by completing a daily activity or BHM event, taking part in weekly self-reflection questions or demonstrating civic engagement and/or support for Black-Owned business(es) during each week.

**No amount of points is too little to provide a chance at one of the multiple prizes.**

Given the shortened month, we decided to extend the opportunity for you to complete and turn in your Challenge spreadsheet, from the original deadline of Monday, Feb. 28, to Monday, Mar. 7. The Challenge was open to all Bellevue College students, faculty, and staff to increase awareness and participation in these events, with each submission considered for up to four (4) weekly drawings for Amazon gift cards, plus a Grand Prize.

Please review the following directions and send your filled-in spreadsheet or any questions to RSVPs@bellevuecollege.edu no later than Noon on Monday, Mar. 7.

Directions:

First, download the passport document. Next, note the points you are eligible for based on the BHM events you attended. Each week’s tally (spreadsheet tab for weeks 1, 2, 3, and 4) will be entered to win a weekly prize (total 4), and/or one (1) grand prize.

Five goals qualify you to earn points:

  1. Attend a Black History Month Event (5 points each)
  2. Complete a Daily Activity (1 point each)
  3. Answer the Weekly Question (2 points each)
  4. Volunteer for one hour of Civic Engagement (3 points each)
  5. Support 1 Black-owned Business (3 points each)

After you download the passport document, follow these directions to complete the form:

  1. Type in your name in place of “Challenger” in cell B6.
  2. Award yourself designated point values based on goals accomplished. Ex.: If you attended a Black History event, input 5 points under the appropriate column.
  3. Send completed chart to RSVPs@bellevuecollege.edu by Noon on Monday, Mar. 7!

**Important: Weekly winners are calculated and contacted on where to send their prize within days after the deadline closes! Don’t forget to type your name and contact information into the body of your email and on your attached, filled-out Passport form.**

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing what you did to support Black History Month 2022!

Sincerely,

Corvie Thykkuttahil, Megan Watson, and Antwinett Lee
