This course leads faculty through 5 equity-creating practices that help online instructors build community, connect with students, create clear assignments, and stay flexible within a well-structured Canvas course. This workshop provides you the opportunity to develop your ability to apply these practices to your online course. After completion of this workshop, you will be able to:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>apply a variety of strategies to use students&#8217; names and pronouns in an online course<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>develop a structured online course while applying a flexible approach to address student needs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>apply early intervention strategies to address students&#8217; progress and behavior<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>construct and revise assignments using the transparency theory to enhance the clarity of expectations for online students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>develop a quarter-long communication plan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>connect with colleagues to create a learning community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Total Hours:<\/strong>&nbsp;12 |&nbsp;<strong>Delivery:<\/strong>&nbsp;Poly-synchronous |&nbsp;<strong>Course Open Window:<\/strong>&nbsp;Oct 19th, 2026 through November 15th, 2026**<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>**Please note:&nbsp;<\/strong>Carefully consider your other commitments before signing up! You must log on and submit the first assignment by the end of the first week of the course. If you don\u2019t complete the assignment by the due date, you will be dropped from the course. You will have the opportunity to sign up for a future offering, but that is not guaranteed. Here is what happens next:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your registration will initiate&nbsp;<strong>a stipend pre-approval for Phase 2<\/strong>&nbsp;through the college&#8217;s administrative system. If you have already registered for another Phase 2 course, this step has already been completed and will be skipped.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This process typically takes&nbsp;<strong>up to 7 business days<\/strong>, though scheduling factors may extend that timeline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once pre-approval is complete, you will receive a&nbsp;<strong>notification confirming your enrollment<\/strong>&nbsp;in the Phase 2 courses along with your official start date and completion deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Please do not attempt to begin coursework until you receive your enrollment confirmation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About Your Stipend<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Upon successful completion of all Phase 2 courses within your one-year window, you will receive a&nbsp;<strong>$800 stipend<\/strong>.&nbsp;<em>Note: Stipend eligibility varies for some employee classifications.
