{"id":196648,"date":"2026-05-06T10:24:33","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T17:24:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forms.bellevuecollege.edu\/fyi\/?p=196648"},"modified":"2026-05-06T12:00:55","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T19:00:55","slug":"pdf-accessibility-tool-launching-on-the-bc-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forms.bellevuecollege.edu\/fyi\/2026\/05\/06\/pdf-accessibility-tool-launching-on-the-bc-website\/","title":{"rendered":"PDF Accessibility Tool Launching on the BC Website"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of Bellevue College\u2019s efforts to meet ADA Title II digital accessibility requirements, a new tool called DocAccess will be activated on the Bellevue College public website Wednesday, May 6.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>More Information:<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">As part of Bellevue College\u2019s efforts to meet ADA Title II digital accessibility requirements, a new tool called DocAccess will be activated on the Bellevue College public website Wednesday, May 6.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">DocAccess automatically makes PDFs more accessible to website visitors and requires no changes to how you currently upload or link PDFs in WordPress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><strong>What It Does<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">When a visitor clicks a PDF link on your site, DocAccess displays the document in an accessible viewer. The viewer includes a screen-reader-friendly transcript alongside the original PDF layout, as well as built-in search, navigation and live assistance features.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><strong>What This Means for You<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">DocAccess helps bridge the gap for documents that are not fully accessible, but it works best when paired with well-structured source documents. Please continue making new PDF documents as accessible as possible before uploading them and use alternative formats whenever appropriate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Whenever possible, use a webpage instead of a PDF.
