Not Broken\u2014Overloaded: Understanding Autistic Burnout<\/strong><\/p>\n Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend a presentation on autistic burnout with Dr. Heidi Hillman. The event is hosted by Eastern Washington University in collaboration with Bellevue College\u2019s Psychology Program and Neurodiversity Navigators Program.<\/p>\n Time:<\/strong> 1:30\u20132:30 PM, Thursday, Mar. 12 Autistic burnout is often mistaken for typical burnout or depression. In this presentation, Dr. Hillman will examine autistic burnout through the lens that all behavior is a form of communication. She will explore how autistic individuals navigate environments that place stress on their systems and how autistic burnout differs from common understandings of burnout.<\/p>\n Drawing on both lived experience and research, Dr. Hillman encourages students to rethink assumptions about behavior, burnout and disability.<\/p>\n Dr. Hillman is a Professor of Psychology at Eastern Washington University and a licensed mental health clinician specializing in autism.
